Living in the Past - Summertime (4)

Hello, fellow bloggers!
Since here in the All That Glitters is (Not) Gold blog we were in a jazz mood (before the interruption provided by Ringo's birthday), and since I'm just obsessed with this song, because it makes part of  the soundtrack of Once Upon a Time in America, a film that I simply adore (and that I saw again recently) today's song is: Summertime!
There's countless versions of this song, but my favourites are the ones that I posted here, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong's jazz  version and Janis Joplin  featuring Jimi Hendrix rock cover. They're both just delicious! How could I evaaar choose between Ella's flawless tone and Joplin's dazzling rebelious voice??
I simply worship Joplin's music and Hendrix's extraordinary skills as a guitarist (he's legendary and muuuch better than some pseudo guitarists/musicians, nowadays, who must think they are brilliant songwriters.. well, guess what.., a song with two chords is not considered to be an outstanding composition, my friend!), and I think that this cover is completely soul exposing, not trying to imply though that it is better than the jazz version in comparison! I think that Ella's interpretation is just as good, but in a completely different smoother way!
